I am a one man business and have been restoring and making furniture and all manner of wooden articles from the same workshop since 1988.
I left school and became an apprentice in a well established Birmingham shop fitting company who had a very high and exacting standard. After being made redundant in 1984 I worked alongside an experienced cabinetmaker/restorer in workshops attached to an Antique shop in Moseley, Birmingham, where I was privileged to “cut my restorers teeth” on mainly Georgian and Regency furniture, a grounding and knowledge base that has been invaluable in the subsequent years.
Since setting up my own workshop I have been able to expand my knowledge further, with every job a new challenge, and with no two being the same. It means that as a restorer I am always learning new techniques and processes and using different and new materials. The service I can offer therefore is always increasing, so please feel free to ask if you can’t see what you want – I will always try to help.
For twenty years I taught as an Adult Education Tutor with Birmingham City Council, setting up and running various woodwork based courses including, Furniture Restoration, Furniture Design and Making, Basic Woodwork Skills, Wooden Toy Making, Garden Furniture Making, and Marquetry. Many of my students returned year on year, with excellent results.
I’m very lucky, I enjoy going to work and love my job and the people I meet, both clients and allied trades. And being a one man business I can offer you a personal but professional service on a friendly footing, with a cuppa always available!
I look forward to hearing from you for a chat about your requirements.
